Before It Becomes a Cycle

(Part of SAMHSA’s Communities Talk Campaign to Prevent Alcohol and Other Drug Misuse)

Before It Becomes a Cycle

is a trauma-informed community campaign led by Strengthening Connections Community Services (SCCS).

Funded through SAMHSA’s Communities Talk initiative, this movement bridges prevention and healing by addressing how unhealed trauma, silence, and stress can evolve into substance misuse and generational pain.

Guided by the W.E. C.A.R.E.™ principle — Working Everywhere to Create A Resilient Environment —

this campaign meets people where they are to build awareness, safety, and resilience.

Through storytelling, pop-up conversations, and healing events, we bring prevention to the people — because connection is the cure.

Learn How To Be Involved This November Below

Before It Becomes a Cycle is more than a campaign — it’s a movement.
This SAMHSA-funded initiative by Strengthening Connections Community Services brings prevention and healing into the spaces people already live, work, and gather. From pop-up conversations to our Holiday Connection Drive and Smashing Cycles event, we’re showing that connection itself is prevention.

Pop Up Conversations
Real Conversations in Real Places

Healing doesn’t wait for an invitation.

Pop-Up Conversations are part of our Before It Becomes a Cycle prevention campaign.

We’re taking healing into real places — gyms, grocery stores, barbershops, and neighborhoods — sparking raw conversations about the cycles families carry and how unhealed pain can show up as substance use or disconnection.

No registration. No stage. Just real people, healing out loud.
